let me recommend you some comics!
Beasts of Burden - Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson
Gorgeous artwork and a cast of fantastic characters too! The basic plot is dogs Vs. ghosts/spirits/a magical cult/werewolves, all right under the noses of their oblivious human companions! If I’m honest, this one was a gift and I was a little dubious to start with, but it’s definitely worth it!
The Wrong Place - Brecht Evens
This one’s all about the fantastic characters and the funny stories they have to tell. It features around a central character called Robbie, who you don’t actually get to meet until quite far on in the book. Illustrated in beautiful watercolours and not presented in the traditional style, this one’s a good laugh and really original too!
Joe the Barbarian - Grant Morrison and Sean Murphy
Just a warning, this one was on a limited run so it may be a little difficult to find! I had to order my copy over from America, but if you can get your hands on a copy it’s definitely worth it. It tells the story of Joe, a diabetic boy who slips into hypoglycemia and finds himself in a fantasy world filled with his own creations and his toys. I don’t want to go into too much detail on this one, it’s one of those comics that you just have to read to get into, but it’s well worth it, the story is great and the artwork is really really stunning!
